Privacy Policy
Summary
We don't provide information to advertisers: At Harmonic Vision Inc, we do not sell user information to advertising networks or data miners. Our business is to make the best educational software we can that has value to our customers so that they are willing to pay for it directly, rather than indirectly by viewing ads or having their personal data sold.
Children and young people: Most students using our software are children or young people. How we ensure their privacy is an important concern for us.
- We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) as we do not provide personal information to third parties.
- We limit the data we collect and make it available only to the students' teachers. The data is not available to other students, teachers using other licenses, nor third parties.
- We limit our product announcements to the registered user and designated teachers. Product announcements are not sent to students. Emails to students are limited to technical issues such as password resets.
Our website currently has no social media capabilities. Therefore, we do not need to worry about student's sharing inappropriate information.
Data we collect
Email addresses:
- Standard login is via email and password.The user's email address uniquely identifies the user which is necessary for a functioning login system. This includes an initial temporary password and password resets.
- The teacher uses the student's email address to uniquely identify each student as part of the process to add students to the license. This is true whether the student uses standard email/password login or Google Sign-In.
- The student will receive an email instructing him or her on how to access the educational software.
- Email is used to request and provide technical support.
- Product announcements will be sent to teachers if they have this option enabled.
User's name: The user's name appears in the teacher's student account lists and progress data.
Lesson progress, Game Scores, product options: An important function of our software is to record the student's progress and make it visible to the student and the teacher. This information is not shared with third parties nor is it shared with other students or teachers who are part of other licenses.
Also, we intend to analyze this data in anonymized and aggregate form internally to improve our software's reliability and educational effectiveness.
IP Addresses:To help us ensure proper use of our license, we log user's IP Address usage. This helps prevent multiple people sharing an account, etc.
Cookies
- Our website does not include third-party cookies. As stated above, we do not share information with third parties.
- For anonymous users of our site, we use a single cookie to record whether the cookie warning has been displayed.
- For user's with accounts, we use cookies to maintain the user's login session once they have logged in.
- Note: we are currently unsure whether Google Sign-In uses tracking cookies. This issue is outside our privacy policy.
Local storage: Our educational lesson and game content uses a new technology called WebAssembly. As the educational content is used by the student, it is cached in the browser's local storage. No private user information is stored in this process. It's purpose is to decrease long download wait times for the student.
Cloud service providers: We are transitioning our educational content from desktop-based software to cloud-based software. This requires use of 3rd party cloud services.
- We use Amazon Web Services for our cloud-hosting, user sign-in, security and other parts of our website. Note that although this is the same Amazon that runs amazon.com, Amazon Web Services is a collection of cloud services that keep each website's data private from each other and private from amazon.com.
- Google Sign-In: As an alternative to the standard email/password login, users can use the Google Sign-In button to sign in with their Google account.
